Termite Control

How to Tell Termites from Ants

Termite Swarmer:

  • Both wings same length, with many veins
  • Antennae not elbowed
  • Waist not apparent

Ant Swarmer:

  • Hind wings shorter than front wings
  • Antennae elbowed
  • Thin, narrow waist

Swarm - when winged-termites, called "reproductive" or swarmers, leave their nest, usually in great numbers, to mate and start new colonies. In our area this usually occurs in the spring but can happen almost year-round. Swarmers are often confused with flying ants as shown in this photo.
